Dr. Joaquim Comas Matas is Associate Professor (tenure) of the Universitat de Girona (Catalonia, Spain) since 2003 and member of the LEQUIA research group. He graduated in Chemical Sciences from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 1993 and obtained his pHD from Universitat de Girona (UdG) in 2000. His main research topics are: wastewater treatment technologies, integrated membrane systems (membrane bioreactors+RO/NF), and development and application of environmental decision support systems. Dr Comas has participated in several National and EU funded research projects. Currently, he is the coordinator of the SANITAS project (VII Framework Program www.sanitas-itn.eu). He has published more than 55 SCI papers within the wastewater treatment field and is reviewer of several SCI journals. His current “H” index is 16. He is also co-inventor of one industrial patent and was one of the founders of SISLtech (www.sisltech.net), a spin-off company of the University of Girona.
