Main area of research is photocatalytic processes for water treatment and solar energy applications involving the development of solar photoreactors, materials testing under solar radiation, and characterisation of wastewater disinfection and decontamination processes. Research areas involved are Solar Energy Engineering; Advanced Oxidation Technologies; Water Treatment and Purification; Solar Photocatalytic Inactivation of Microorganisms in Water; Colloids and interfaces of Semiconductors in Water. Highlights in research include a number of highly cited research publications, invites for key note and plenary lectures. Awarded and collaborated in a number of European and Spanish funded R&D grants focused on the investigation of drinking water disinfection for developing countries, industrial wastewater remediation, urban wastewater treatment, and reuse for agriculture, inactivation of especially resistant pathogenic microorganisms and technology of solar collectors.
