Dr. Ignasi Rodriguez-Roda, senior researcher at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), and full professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Girona, has a MSc in Biotechnology (1994) and a PhD in Industrial Engineering (1998). He has participated in about 20 national and international research projects and several contracts with companies related to transfer of technology in the field of water and wastewater treatment. He has more than 50 papers published in SCI, more than 100 communications in international conferences and several books and chapters. He has supervised 7 PhD Thesis. His current main field of research concerns the application of artificial intelligence tools (e.g. decision support systems) for the design, modelling, control and supervision of environmental domains, the activated sludge system, membrane bioreactors and other technologies for wastewater treatment, and the investigation of degradation mechanisms of pharmaceuticals and micropollutants.
