On May 23 2017 Luca Sbardella, one of the Early Stage Researchers of the TreatRec gave a presentation titled "Removal of Pharmaceuticals from WWTP Secondary Effluent with Biofilters" at the Frontiers International Conference on Wastewater Treatment in Palermo, Italy. Another TreatRec fellow Sara Johansson also presented a poster "Combining arammox with struvite precipitation for multi-nutrient recovery". From the TreatRec project A. Fenu, J. Comas and I. Rodriguez-Roda attended the conference and gave presentations.

The fourth Advanced Training Course within the TreatRec project took place again in Girona, Spain. During the 15th and 16th of March, the fellows and PhD students from the University of Girona enjoyed an intensive course on modelling assessment and decision support tools oriented to water and wastewater systems.
The third Advanced Training Course organized for the TreatRec project was held in Girona Spain on days between the 29th of November and the 1st of December 2016. This time around the topics concentrated on micro-contaminants, covering their detection, effect and fate in wastewater treatment.
On July 20th 2016 Sara Johansson, one of the Early Stage Researchers of the TreatRec gave a seminar titled "P-recovery through the crystallization route" at the University of Girona in Spain. Sara will transfer to Aquafin in Belgium next month for one year and a half and she will continue her research there.
The ATC2 organized by Aquafin successfully delivered a series of lectures, exercises and activities on the major topics in the wastewater industrial sector from 18th until 21st April 2016 in Antwerp, Belgium.
The coordinating institution of TreatRec, The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) has just received HR Excellence in Research award in February 2016, a distinction awarded by the European Commission, which recognizes the efforts of the research center in improving recruitment and researchers’ rights.
