Few Words About Hate, Threats and Their “Materialization” in Our Society

Charlottesville, Virginia, USA 13th of August 2017 : a group of right-wing- white-nationalist were gathering together and marching to promote their supremacy against whomsoever was/is different from them.

Even from a neutral point of view, (e.i. not from a leftish mind) this kind of meeting – if this is the word we want to use – should be banned and condemned by the authorities and therefore should not take place in the first place. But, unfortunately, there are several places in the world were the authorities in charge to control such things, are on the same side of these so called white-nationalist-supremacist. So, when this happens, is more than rightful that counter actions as well as counter protests are undertaken from the society, from the people, from whom does not think that the color of your skin means you are worthless and belonging to a lower status. Those people can define themselves as they wish, but as a matter of fact they are fascists and because of that they should be opposed. Along the twentieth century, different ways to oppose fascisms and fascists have been applied, resulting in both violent and non-violent actions. Nowadays, violence should be avoided, therefore when a counter-action is needed, people take the streets, they march together showing their unity against those expressions of hate and racism. In this framework, in Charlottesville, on that same day, a huge group of people were counterprotesting against the white-nationalist-supremacist-fascist. This means they were marching in the streets. While this was happening, a car driven by one of those fascists, run over the protesting people. Looking at this scene, it reminded me of a Quentin Tarantino’ s movie, but unfortunately this was real. The madness of this man driving his car into the protesters was real. And, more sadly, a 32 year old woman died because of this terroristic attack. Yes, this is how it should be mentioned and defined, an act meant to spread terror, fear and more hatred. In addition to the death of the woman, several person were hit and injured. This was bad, but what was even worse was the lack of blame, from the smallest till the highest level of the local institutions. When something like this happens, the reaction of the entire society must be tenacious, intense and done in order to engage as much person as possible. It shouldn’t be “black” against “white”, it should be “The righteous who demand for equality” against “Who thinks the inequalities are natural laws” allowing them to keep the “different” below their feet. Those haters must be taken down, and the first step to do so is to recognize they exist, they are real as well as the danger which comes with their hate. And if we would like to live in peace, we have to recognize they are a threat to this aim!
